The cations of the salt will be replaced by hydrogen in the exchange resin, all anions of the salt are converted into the corresponding acid. Then, take a titration on the treated sample by resin with standard alkali solution. 3、Materials 100 mL resin column; 1 L conical flask; 2 mL pipette. Plastic weighing disk; Analytical balance, accuracy to be 1 mg; 50 mL beaker. 50 mL burette; Buret support; 2 L beaker; Wash bottle; A stopwatch. 4、Reagents 50 mL strongly cationic exchange resin; 0.1 mol/L standard sodium hydroxide; 4-5% HCl; 5 g/L phenolphthalein indicator; Deionized water; pH test paper (range pH 1-14). 5、Procedure 5.1 Filling 20-30 mL of cation exchange resin in a column, rinsing it with deionized water until the leachate become colorless. 5.2 Use approx. 200 ml,of 4% to 5% of HCl through a funnel to regenerate the resin, takes about 10 minutes. 5.3 After regeneration and use deionized water rinsing the funnel and resin column until its leachate become neutral (pH≈7), 5.4 Put 2.0 - 4.0 g the amine samples into the plastic weighing disk, Measure the weight with balance, which has an accuracy of 0.01 g and recorded as (W). 5.5 Pour the sample into the resin column and rinsing plastic weighing disk several times, the rising water will be transferred in the resin column too. Collect the leachate in a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask 5.6 Then rinsing the resin with deionized water. Until the leachate become neutral (pH = 7) or equal to the pH of the rinsing water. 5.7 Add 2 - 3 drops of phenolphthalein indicator to the Erlenmeyer flask, take a titration with NaOH standard solution till its colour converted to pink, record consumed volume (V) of the NaOH standard solution. 6、Calculation V(NaOH) — The consumed volume of the NaOH standard solution,mL C(NaOH) — The concentration of the NaOH standard solution浓度, 0.1 mol/L W — The weight of the sample,g 11.9 — Molecular weight of Methyl diethanolamine×100/1000 7、Report Repeat the above analysis twice and take an average figure as the final result.
