1、Field This methods is for the concentration of the suspended solids in Amine solution 2、Definition Total suspended solids refers to the solid particles that trapped by a filter. Filtering the amine sample through the membrane filter paper, The solids trapped by the membrane filter, drying to constant weight under a temperature between 103 to 105 ºC. The weight difference is the total suspended solids. 3、Reagent Distilled water or equivalent 4、Materials 4.1 Glass membrane filter 4.2 CN CA 0.45 um filter paper at a diameter of 50 mm. 4.3 A vacuum suction flask and pump 4.4 A flat tip anodontia tweezers 4.5 Analytical balance 4.6 ven 5、Sampling methods 5.1 Sampling Before sampling, the polyethylene or glass sampling bottles should be cleaned with detergents and tap water then distilled water rinsing. When taking sample, rinsing with amine sample three times. 5.2 Sample storage Analyze the sample as soon as possible. Before the analysis, the samples should be stored at temperature of 4 ℃ in a cooler normally, and be analyzed within 24 h. The longest storage time for the sample is 7 days. 6、Procedures 6.1、Preparation. Transfer the filter paper with flat tip anodontia tweezers, into a weighing bottle then transfer the bottle into an oven that the setpoint of temperature is between the l03 ~ l05 ℃ for half an hour. Cooling down to room temperature inside a dryer and measure the weight. Repeat the above drying and cooling until the difference on the two recorded weights is no more than 0.2 mg. Place the filter paper in the vacuum suction flask set, and moisture the set with distilled water. 6.2、Test Filtering 100 ml sample and rinsing the filter paper three time with distilled water, stop the vacuum filtration until all the above water and sample filtered through. Transfer the filter paper into the weighing bottle and pace them in the oven ad set a temperature of 103 ~ 105 ℃ for a hour. Then transfer them into the dryer and cooling to room temperature. Repeat the drying and cooling until the difference between two weights is less than 0.4 mg. Note: If there are too much suspended solids trapped by the filter paper, it creates a difficulty in filtration and drying. Less amount of sample for analysis should be considered at this time. However a less sample may create a error in measuring, so generally takes 5 ~ 10 mg suspend solids will be a range of the sampling volume. 7、Calculation Suspended solids concentration c (mg/L) is calculated by following formula C The concentration of suspended solids in the amine solution, mg/L A Total weight of suspension solids + filter paper + weighing bottle, g B Total weight of filter paper + weighing bottle, g V Sample volume, mL
